~ * About * ~

Littlest Pet Shops, also known as LPS are little bobble head type figure toys of animals that became very popular in the early 2000s. Many people enjoyed them and even created videos online of them, which spiked their popularity at the time even more.

~ * History * ~

* Generation 1 *

They were first introduced in the 1990s, by the company of Kenner. They did not bobble. They looked a little "realistic". They had accessories that went along with the pets. They were not as popular as the next generation of the toys, generation 2 (G2).

* Generation 2 *

This generation of the toys were the most popular. They were released in the early 2000s. The company of Hasbro had taken over these toys, so Kenner no longer produced them. They were loved worldwide. They werent as "realistic" looking as the previous generation, which made them more appealing. There were a wide varitiy of pets to collect.

* Generation 3 *

These were released in the very early 2010s. This is when LPS started to lose popularity. Generation 3 was less appealing to people because of their wacky style. Their legs were thin, the heads were a weird type of plastic and their heads were fully attached, so they no longer bobbled. Kids all around the world were outraged, and actually called Hasbro, asking them to revert back to G2 pets.

* Generation 4-6 *

This is where LPS really died down. These were released in the more later 2010s, around 2014-2015. Nobody really liked the pets anymore, Generation 4 and 5 were the most unappealing pets. Hasbro started to lose money from LPS sales because nobody wanted them anymore. There were holes in their heads, to fit in accesories. Nobody really liked that, and their heads were easily detachable to swap with other pets. It was weird. In Generation 6, they had realised their mistake, and fixed the holes in the head thing, and they stopped making their heads easily detachable. But they then had this weird rubber plastic material. Then in 2020, LPS went quiet. Pets haven't been released. But, the brand wasn't dead.

~ * The Future of LPS / Generation 7 * ~

Recently, in late 2022 in November, it was announced that the company Basic Fun would take over the brand. Basic Fun is known for bringing back older generations of toys. This excited the LPS community, everyone for years wanted G2 pets to come back. Basic Fun had announced they were bringing back older pets. After that, there was basically no more info.

Then very recently, in around July to September, alot of new info came out. There was an LPSCon, which Basic Fun had a booth and there was a reveal of the new LPS logo, which is very similar to the old G2 logo. Then in September there was a ToyFair in New York, which Basic Fun was also at. This dumped alot of information to the community. There were new pets showcased, with the molds of G2 pets. This excited everyone. It was now confirmed that G2 LPS were returning, and as early as Janurary-Feburary 2024! Now, everyone in the LPS community is awaiting the arrival of these new LPS, and more new information.
